Burnout to Brilliance

Have you lost your motivation? Have you become irritable and easily frustrated? Are you in permanent state of exhaustion? Do you find yourself thinking ‘what’s the point?’

Although these feelings have become common, they are not healthy physiological and psychological states.

Burnout has become a significant and widespread issue in today’s fast-paced work environment.

Recent studies indicate that burnout affects nearly 77% of employees at some point in their careers, with executives and high-level professionals being particularly vulnerable.

Over the years I’ve seen the narrative around burnout be reduced to doing too much and well-being workshops being the key to solving burnout. I’ve been researching and helping people deal with burnout since 1997 and I know that burnout is complex. It involves both individual mind and body, organisational and societal factors.

I have developed an approach to dealing with burnout and it starts with these 3 steps:

1. Recognise

Acceptance that you might be burnt out can be difficult. Often it is other people in someone’s life who are the first to starting naming burnout.

Burnout, despite more general openness, can still be associated with weakness. It can impact identity and cause fears for the future. Moving to acceptance and a management of the emotions associated with being burnt out is key to dealing with burnout.

2. Repair & Recharge

Most people understand that some kind of recharge is needed to deal with burnout. However, when you are burnt out it is not easy to start to recharge. Pacing your recharge activities is essential. I help you to develop a mind-body connection to understand what you need to repair your body and how to take the steps to give your body what it needs. Along the way, we will understand any psychological barriers to giving your body what it needs.

3. Re-evaluate

Once your energy is starting to renew, we will take a deep dive into understanding how you became burnt out. This phase of dealing with burnout is often missed.

It is not easy but if you ignore it, you will find yourself in a pattern of Burn Out – Recharge – Burn Out Again. In this phase, I will help you to create new ways so that you will feel more alive. From this place, you will improve your performance at work and your general mood will be improved.

This is an exciting phase of dealing with burnout. You will discover that when you are brave enough to fully understand and change how you became burnt out, that you can get to a place of brilliance.

It is hard to believe that this is possible when you are burnt out, but that is because being burnt out distorts your perspective and ability to put your attention into your future.

Once you gain insights into your patterns, you will develop a powerful self-awareness that will give you hope and energy to make changes to your life.

Revitalize & Reclaim Your Power

One of the biggest hurdles in dealing with burnout is feeling like you don't have the time to address it. You may be a leader with significant responsibilities and the thought of giving time to manage burnout may feel very stressful.

I can develop a bespoke burnout programme for you where we will meet in a discrete location in London for half a day or a full day. This will involve an online pre-meeting to help me develop a programme for you, psychological techniques before and after we meet and time together in person.

It doesn't have to be like this

This is a group retreat from your life for 1 day with up to 12 people in Central London. Here you get to open your mind and create the steps you need to change your life. You will learn how to find balance. From this place of balance, your goals and behaviours will align with your deep self, priming you to feel alive to committing to fully engaging in changing your life so it works for you, your goals, your story, your body.

The programme has been developed by Dr Catherine Sykes. The unique content has been copyrighted.

You will be sent pre-work before the workshop. You will need to dedicate a minimum of 2 hours to reflection before attending the workshop. You will be asked to lock away mobile phones for the duration of the workshop. The cost for attendance is £1,495 and includes all the course materials which are available on an app.
